Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr. Mohieddin Naeem Mohamed Saeed, welcomed the visit of the Russian delegation, led by Victor Shamdanov, Chairman of the Russian Business Council and the Sudanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. His Excellency expressed his happiness with the visit, which he considered an extension of the visit of the Ministry of Energy and Oil delegation to Russia, which he headed at the end of the previous year. The delegation held a joint meeting of experts and technicians in the fields of oil exploration, production, and pipelines. The meeting discussed several topics in which Russian companies wish to invest in Sudan, most notably oil, including exploration, production, and pipeline maintenance. The meeting was attended by a number of directors of the ministry’s general departments and companies. The Minister emphasized that this day is a joint practical and technical day to discuss available investment opportunities, expressing that this step is important for relations with Russia, especially in the oil sector. A memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed between the two parties at the end of the visit. For his part, the head of the visiting delegation, Viktor Shamdanov, told SUNA that major Russian companies are keen to explore opportunities for cooperation with Sudanese companies, and he hopes the visit will achieve its desired goals in the interests of both countries.
